A good automation removes repetitive work from a process you already understand. Do not use automation to hide an undefined customer journey.
Common workflow pattern
A checkout event can trigger downstream actions such as adding a customer to an email sequence, creating a CRM record, notifying a team, granting access or writing transaction data to another system.
Design for duplicates and failure
Use unique identifiers where possible, make actions idempotent when your tools allow it, and decide what happens when a downstream app is unavailable.
Document ownership
